How to make wave and blob shapes in Illustrator

Simple waves and blobs are really easy to create in Illustrator. Whatever you do, don't bother pulling out the pen tool! All we need is a straight line and a zigzag effect for some uniform waves, and to create the blobs, a few ellipses and the pathfinder is all we need!
