Hello, my friends!! If you want to like, share or subscribe, I'll be very happy!

This time I take you with me to Bard, in the Valle d'Aosta Region, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, as well as being one of the smallest.
This truly magical place is located in a completely unique geographical position, where the Dora Baltea river, turning sharply at the elbow, forms a gorge and is dominated by the magnificent Fort which gives Bard a spectacular panoramic position.
From Bard also passes the famous Via Francigena which from France crossing the Alps leads to Rome and it is wonderful to walk these ancient medieval streets where time seems to have stopped, encountering important buildings dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries and the beautiful Parish Church of Assumption of Mary, located in the small square of the village.
The Fort of Bard is an exceptional example of an early 19th century barrage fortress. It is an imposing architectural complex, formed by three main bodies (the Opera Vittorio, the Opera Carlo Alberto and the Opera Ferdinando), positioned at different levels between 400 and 467 meters above sea level, with a unique visual impact. and fascinating, being totally surrounded by mountains.
The first defensive settlements in this area date back to the pre-Roman era, testifying to the strategic importance that this area has always held, marking a real border area.
Medieval chronicles tell of how the Fort was considered impregnable, precisely because of its particular position.
Initially it was the domain of the Lords of Bard, then from the mid-1200s the long Savoy dominion began, abruptly interrupted by the arrival of Napoleon.
The Fort was in fact the scene from 14 May 1800 of a very important historical episode. A garrison of over 40,000 men of the Napoleonic army had crossed the Gran San Bernardo to surprise the Austro-Piedmontese army and proceed with the advance towards the Po Valley.
But the victorious march was abruptly interrupted at the very dawn of that day by the outpost positioned right at the Bard Fort, which opposed a strenuous resistance of over two weeks, which unnerved Napoleon to such an extent that, after the surrender, he completely shaved on the ground the Fort, the "Vilain Castel de Bard".
It seems certain that among the soldiers of the Armèe de Reserve there was also a boy of only seventeen, Henry Beyle, better known as the great writer Stendhal, who had his baptism of fire in Bard. A plaque commemorates his passage in these places.
Carlo Felice began the reconstruction of the Fort in 1827, entrusting the supervision to Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour, who considered it a punishment, almost an exile and for this reason abandoned his military career for a political one.
In very recent times, however, the Fort was the location of some scenes of the film AVENGERS - Age of Ultron, including the famous trailer in which Iron Man is located right on the heights around the Fort.
Today the Fort is the scene of important exhibitions, events and interactive itineraries, including one for children, dedicated to mountaineering.
Some photographs at the end of the video also portray the village, also of very ancient origins, named Donnas, which is located along the so-called Strada delle Gallie, of which a splendid Roman arch remains, well preserved. Access to the ancient village instead passes through a splendid medieval gate. Donnas is known for its valuable food and wine heritage.

You motivate and encourage me a lot. Thank you very much with all my heart!
I also want to thank the many of you who have already visited the @Bonnie Nadine Newman's channel.
As you know, this splendid artist, singer, lyricist instrumentalist and performer, gave me the enormous joy of collaborating with her, through the drafting of Italian texts taken from my poems together with the wonderful music of Maestro Kjell Karlsson.
I also leave you the link of the playlist Bonnie wanted to dedicate to me.
