A man from Lithuania became famous worldwide for pulling off one of the biggest online scams. His name is Evaldas Rimasauskas, and he tricked some of the largest tech companies in the world, including Google and Facebook.

He created a fake company pretending to be a computer hardware supplier that these tech giants actually worked with. Using forged emails, invoices, and contracts, he sent fake bills to the companies. Because the documents looked real, the companies believed they were paying their genuine supplier.

Over a few years, Rimasauskas managed to steal around $100 million. He used bank accounts across different countries to move the money and hide his tracks. For a while, the scheme worked because the companies trusted the paperwork.

Eventually, investigators uncovered the fraud. Rimasauskas was arrested in Lithuania and later extradited to the United States. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to wire fraud, identity theft, and money laundering. He was sentenced to prison and ordered to return millions of dollars.

This case showed how even the biggest companies can be tricked by simple but clever scams. It also reminded businesses to be very careful about checking every bill and payment request.
