Furthermore, it reveals that all of the suffering of the world is caused by lies, and those lies start with our parents in childhood. Then this extends to all societal systems being based on lies, because society is just composed of children who grew up. Naturally the church viewed this as both a threat to their own power, as well as a threat to all the power structures of society, so they forced Dante to rewrite it under threat of death.
