The famous Medina of Tunis is the old town quarter of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. It has also been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

The Medina was established around 698 around the Zitouna Mosque and it developed steadily throughout the Middle Age.

Bab El Bhar is a city gate surrounded by shops in the center of the Medina bazar (souk) which is called visited by many tourists, at the end of Avenue Bourguiba. It is the separation point between the Medina of Tunis and the modern city. In the Medina Bazar (Souk) it is possible to find various Tunisian traditional and handmade items.

Avenue Habib Bourguiba is the city center of Tunis, and the historical political and economic heart of Tunisia. It is named after Habib Bourguiba, the first President of Tunisia. Today, the wide Avenue is lined with trees and shops as well as popular street cafes on both sides.

Many of the important monuments are located on this avenue, including Cathedral of St. Vincent de Paul, French Embassy in Tunisia and Grand Théâtre of Tunis. At its centre stands a statue of the Tunisian philosopher and historian Ibn Khaldoun.
