Ellie Plays Bach: Cello Suite No. 1 In G Major - The Last Of Us Part 2 Guitar

How I made this video: I learned how to play Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 on the piano, then used Ableton Live to record my performance as a midi file. This file was converted into button and touchpad presses with some of my controller hacking code.

This piece of music is known by many from Yo-Yo Ma's highly expressive performance. Capturing all that expression is nearly impossible with the in-game guitar. This took me a week of practice yet I had to hold back lots of expressive moments since they did not turn out very well. I probably could continue practicing for a better performance, but I would also like to learn other music :)

The built-in audio modifier named "Xenon" is a part of a fun suite of render modes and gameplay modifiers that Naughty Dog integrated into the game. Xenon is the opposite of the helium modifier, lowering pitches instead of raising them. I used the Xenon Audio modifier to effectively extend the range to play 8 notes that dip below the normal guitar's range.

Hardware: This stems from my "Viewers Control Chaos" project that lets users change how my controller works using a Raspberry Pi 4. With a few tweaks I can apply some advanced macros like this. Though I could previously spoof button presses and joystick angles, the touchpad was only something that could be read. Recent hacking at code let me fake touchpad inputs so that I perform inhuman actions on the guitar.
