BRIDGE COLLAPSE: Pedestrian bridge collapses after car crashes into it

A portion of a pedestrian bridge at Eastman Business Park collapsed when a car crashed into it Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to Mount Read Boulevard between West Ridge Road and Ridgeway Avenue around 11:15 a.m. for a report of a crash.

A roll-off dumpster-type truck was southbound, with the rear of the truck in an upright position, when it struck the pedestrian bridge and caused the collapse, according to police, before a southbound car crashed into the rubble.
