We wanted to share an update on Sayuri, as her health journey has been ongoing since September and we’ve been a little quieter than usual.

It all began when Sayuri started experiencing urinary incontinence. Since then, she’s been through quite a bit. Early on, she had a bladder puncture, urinalysis, and ultrasound, and was prescribed medication for a possible UTI along with medicated wipes for a skin infection. After two weeks, there was unfortunately no improvement in the urine dribbling.

The urinalysis showed some crystals but no stones or UTI, and her ultrasound came back normal. We took her back again for further testing, including blood work and X-rays, and she was given Rimadyl in case bladder inflammation was the cause. Sadly, Rimadyl made her sick, so we had to stop that medication.

At that point, we decided to seek a second opinion. She had another bladder puncture, urinalysis, and a urine culture. This time, the results showed no stones, no crystals, and no bacteria.

Based on everything, she has now been prescribed a low dose of Proin to help manage urinary incontinence, which is something that can be common in spayed female dogs. We’re currently waiting for the medication to arrive, and she will also be starting a prescription diet.

If we don’t see improvement, the next step would be a cystoscopy.

Sayuri is still herself — sweet, strong, and so loved — but this has been a long and emotional process, which is why we’ve been a bit quieter. Thank you for all the love, patience, and continued support. It truly means the world to us 🤍🐾
