An excerpt from the journal pages of the Dovahkiin - An Invitation and Mehrunes Razor

Just as I was sitting down in my Tundra Homestead for a well deserved meal after clearing out Embershard Mine of a group of bandits for the Jarl of Falkreath, there came a knock upon my door. With a sigh I get up wondering who needs to disturb me at this late hour. It was a courier with an urgent message, I gave him 15 gold coin from a nearby coin box, he thanked me and left.

I put the message on my desk and wandered back to my seat, determined to finish my meal. But as usual, curiosity got the best of me and I retrieved the letter, breaking the seal I read it aloud. 'Silus Vesuius Presents - The Museum of the Mythic Dawn - A History of the Cult that Toppled the Septim Dynasty - Inside of his very home in the great capital of the Pale, Dawnstar - Free and Open to all citizens of Skyrim'.

Why send this invite to me? Why open a museum dedicated to, as the invitation puts it - Toppled the Septim Dynasty. Feelings are pretty raw from those times. For curiosity sake I will go and see this Museum of the Mythic Dawn.

I had awoken at sunrise, ate a light meal, gathered my things and made my way to Bjorlam to engage him to take me to Dawnstar. After paying him 50 gold we were on our way. The journey took eight hours and it was mostly uneventful, except for the occasional Frost Spider.

I arrived just in time to see my host arguing with Dawnstar's court Mage, Madena. She said it was foolish to open such a museum and then left in disgust at Silus's stubborness. That's when he noticed me and extended an invitation to come inside his home to view the artifacts.

Quite a collection he has amassed - four volumes of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries written by Mankar Camoran himself, various tattered banners to the cult, clothing of the cult, a burnt page of the Mysterium Xarxes and his most prized piece - the scabbard of Mehrunes Razor. Silus mentions that after the end of the Oblivion Crisis, the dagger was broken up into four separate pieces and he knows where they are. He's offering me the task of collecting all the parts for hefty sum per piece. I agree to his terms and set off to find the first piece - the Hilt.

Jorgan in Morthal was all to willing to hand it over for a price, I paid 350 gold and it was now in my possession. The second piece - the Pommel - was at a location called Dead Crone Rock. This was no easy task, the ancient Nordic ruins was home to the Forsworn and a Hagraven. After clearing the place out of the threats the Pommel was mine. The third and final piece was at an old fort called Crack Tusk Keep, it was occupied by a group of Orc bandits. After witnessing an Orc going around to the backside of the fort, I noticed a backdoor. Perhaps I could get in and steal it. I'd rather not get into a fight with this race of warriors. The lock was easy, the traps inside required a more delicate touch. I was in and out with the Razor's shards.

Returning to an anxious Silus, I place all the pieces on a nearby table. He took a few moments to admire the craftsmanship before gathering up the items and placing them in a small bag, paid me what was promised and asked if I could accompany him to a location to get the blade reassembled. I asked where, he said at the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon of course.

We traveled for five hours to get to the shrine. It was a massive stone carving of the Daedric Prince himself. There was an alter sitting before it, that's where Silus placed the pieces, stood back and muttered a few words. Nothing happened so he asked me to give it a try. I shrugged and placed my hands on the Alter, that's when Mehrunes Dagon spoke to me and said that Silus has served his purpose and must be eliminated.

I thought about this and decided that he indeed must be eliminated. Not because Mehrunes demanded it, but because he was worshipping a cult that brought about the war with the Thalmor and the state of affairs we are currently embroiled in now - namely the civil war. I had slain the cultist and received a repaired Mehrunes Razor.

As soon as the dagger was in my hand, two Dremora appeared out of nowhere and attacked. I managed to dodge their attacks and lay killing blows upon them both. They both carried a key to the doors of the shrine which contained two more Dremora in which I took care off using stealth and my bow. There was a great many treasures to be had inside, I collected what I can carry and left the shrine.

Back at my Tundra home, I placed the Razor in a display case in the cellar. I considered looting Silus's home for the rest of the artifacts and burn them. I don't need any cultists snooping around my home in search of these hellish artifacts.

Now I can sit down once again and enjoy a much deserved meal and a chalice of Alto Wine.
