Rakim Allen (born December 9, 1991), better known by his stage name PnB Rock, is an American recording artist, record producer, and singer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his 2016 single, "Selfish", which has peaked at number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2017, Rock was chosen as part of the XXL Freshman Class.

Rakim Allen was born on December 9, 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Germantown, Philadelphia, primarily raised by his mother. He grew up listening to Tupac Shakur and Jodeci. At the age of 13, Rakim was sent to a youth detention program for committing robberies and fighting in school. When he turned 19, he was sentenced to 33 months in prison for drug possession and other crimes. Allen was homeless for a short period after being released from prison. He never finished high school.

On June 24, 2014, PnB Rock released his debut mixtape, "Real N*gga Bangaz". He wrote the mixtape while he was incarcerated. In 2015, PnB signed a record deal with Atlantic Records, and under the label, he released his second mixtape, RnB 3. In June 2016, he released the hit single, "Selfish". The song peaked at number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In October 2016, Rolling Stone included him in their list of "10 New Artists You Need to Know". On January 13, 2017, he released his debut studio album, GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions through Atlantic Records and Empire Distribution.

On June 13, 2017, PnB Rock was named as one of the ten of XXL's "2017 Freshman Class"
