Dr. Anisha Sharma is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Ashoka University. Her main research interests are development and labour economics. Dr Sharma completed her PhD in Economics from Oxford University in 2016. Before that, she received an MSc in Financial Economics (2008), and an MSc in Economics for Development (2009) from Oxford, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and a BA (Hons) in Economics (2007) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.

Dr Sharma spoke about her completed and ongoing work on gender, on understanding the gender gap in major choice, and the unintended consequences of a welfare policy meant to reduce gender discrimination. She also spoke about her upcoming work, as well as the Centre for Economic Data and Analysis (CEDA) being set up at Ashoka University, which aims to become a hub for socioeconomic data on India, including a wide range of gender-related outcomes.
