Good morning everyone! My name is Pratiksha Mangalekar, a student of class X-C, St. Joseph’s Convent High School. I am here to talk about something that has become an integral part of our lives—Artificial Intelligence, or widely known as AI. It’s a term we hear everywhere, from movies to our classrooms, and it's shaping the world we live in. But what exactly is AI, and why is it becoming the new normal?
[What is Artificial Intelligence?]
AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and learn like humans. These systems can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation. You’ve probably interacted with AI without even realising it. Have you ever used Siri or Google Assistant? That’s AI. When Netflix suggests a movie you might like, that’s AI too.
[AI in Daily Life]
Andrew Ng once said- “Artificial Intelligence is the new electricity.” From setting reminders through voice assistant to scrolling web pages to find personalised ads, that’s AI working behind the scenes. AI is a part of video games too, AI is everywhere, from the apps we use to the cars we drive.
[AI in Education]
AI is also transforming education. Imagine having a personalised tutor that understands your strengths and weaknesses, providing customised lessons to help you learn better. AI-powered educational tools can analyse how students learn and adapt lessons to meet their needs. This means no more one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, each student can learn at their own pace, making education more effective and engaging.
[AI in Healthcare]
In healthcare, AI is revolutionising how doctors diagnose and treat diseases. AI systems can analyse medical images, predict patient outcomes, and even suggest treatment plans. This not only speeds up diagnosis but also reduces human error. For example, AI can help detect early signs of diseases like cancer, giving patients a better chance of successful treatment.
[Ethical Considerations]
However, with great power comes great responsibility. AI raises important ethical questions. For instance, how do we ensure that AI is used for good and not to harm? How do we protect our privacy when so much of our data is being used by AI systems? These are questions that we, as the future generation, need to think about. It’s crucial to develop AI in a way that is ethical and beneficial for all of society.
