This is a follow up of my first video on making cheap replacement tips for a standard soldering iron. In this video I compared iron and copper as a material for making soldering iron tips, and you can quite clearly see why iron isn't suitable. Admittedly I didn't expect iron to be that bad at conducting heat!

Since so many of you have asked me where to get copper wire, here's an affiliate link to some appropriate copper wire on eBay. Make sure to check the diameter of your current soldering tip and convert it into the right wire gauge using a lookup table before ordering:
