About the Author:
Lal Behari Dey (1824-1892) was a Bengali journalist and Christian missionary who wrote The Ghost Brahman and Other Folk Tales. The stories in the collection were inspired by the stories told to him by village elders when he was a child. Dey's goal was to portray the lives and traditions of Bengali peasants in a positive light.
