Filmed April 6, 2024 so some parts migth sound a little out of date, our conclusions though remain the same.

It's easy to be bearish on the US or the west in general. There's a tendency to view the grass as greener on the other side and it's easy to see the problems around you, much more difficult to see them relative to other parts of the world.

Many will compare the US today to the late Roman empire but how true is that?

The US has gone through a civil war, the civil rights movement, the great depression, the cold war, it has always come through. And in spite of challenges today it has the global reserve currency, most of the top companies in the world, the best capital markets, huge natural resources, two oceans, a large single market, strong rule of law...the list goes on.

Is there reason to be bearish in the face of all of that? If so what are those reasons?

We we examine the idea that US decline this time might not be cyclical but structural and how hidden forces might have reached the tipping point from which it is essentially impossible to go back.
