Tools required: small set of double pointed needles, locking stitch markers, sharp pointy scissors.

0:35
Deciding where to put the pocket and marking it off with locking stitch markers.

2:33
Inserting the double pointed needles above and below the pocket insert. Tips: using a smaller diameter needle, picking up the right hand leg.

4:56
Cutting a stitch and unravelling part of a row for the pocket insert. Tips: snip a middle stitch (just one leg of it), use a short needle (e.g. a wool needle) to unravel the stitches moving out from the middle to the edges. Leave your locking stitch markers in place.

7:24
Knitting the pocket lining (held stitches above the opening). Tips: making your pocket lining wider than the pocket opening.

12:31
Deciding how long to make the pocket liner, how the liner works (tucked inside) and whip stitching the pocket liner into place. Demonstrating where the pocket “trim” goes (held stitches under the pocket opening).

14:31
Working the trim/edge for the pocket using the held stitches below the pocket opening. Tips: use a smaller needle and match it up to the rest of the trim on the sweater, make the trim slightly wider than the pocket opening by casting on 1 extra stitch on either end of the pocket stitches and pattern stitch options for the pocket opening.

17:25
Remove stitch markers, weaving in ends. Tips: using locking stitch markers to hold pocket insert in place, whip stitching the liner.
