Описание к видео Neil deGrasse Tyson Reveals What Your Child's Brain Actually Wants

The Kenzy Math Stories use Memory Palaces, tried and test methods backed by centuries of research to make learning the multiplication tables fast, fun and easy.

You can find the complete course here:

Each story locks in one times table fact like 6 x 7 = 42. The two digits are common objects that connect to each number the way a child’s brain naturally works.

We think in pictures, not symbols. We can easily remember the things in a children’s story like what Goldilocks ate in the ‘Three Bears” story but we don’t easily remember the symbol above the number 7 on a computer keyboard.

Each number has several connections. For example spider is the image for the number 8 because the body is shaped like an 8 and it has 8 legs. Though this is clear enough for anyone to remember, there are other triggers like the color (every 8 in the stories is black, like an 8-ball).

Each story can be told from a single image. This makes it easy to get to the ‘instant’ recall level, something not likely with traditional methods. After a few rehearsals of walking through the question to the answer, children see the numbers connected in one place. This is at least 10x faster than counting fingers or sets to get to an answer.

A typical script that helps a child use each image or story would look like this:

Q: What is the picture for 9? It has eight legs and a body shaped like an 8?

A: A spider.

Q: What is the picture for 9? It’s shaped like a 9 and it comes in sets of 9. It’s also called a 9 iron.
A: A golf club.

Q: (To prompt the story…) When the crazy mom chases the spider with a golf club, what gets broken?
A: The window, of the house.

Q: What number is the roof of a house shaped like?
A: Seven.
(This is the big picture, so it’s 70, or the tens digit.)

Q: How many curtains are there on the window?
A: Two (the ones digit

Eight times nine is seventy two.

Walking the mind through the numbers imprints the numbers. After a few rehearsals, the math fact becomes familiar. After practice it becomes efficient. After enough practice it become automatic. For a typical eight year old all of the times tables can be learned in a few hours. Kids who use the Kenzy Method learn them in 2 hours and master them in 6 hours.

Compare this to elementary math where kids still count on their fingers for addition after years of instruction (typically roughly 1000 hours by the time they are finished grade six.) Most still haven’t mastered them by this time.

Please take a look at the videos on our channel that highlight this method. You will get a sense of how it works and if it is right for your child.
