This recorded conversation on case studies and best practices on intellectual property (IP) rights targets African policymakers, including the African Group in New York, to raise awareness of the importance of IP rights issues in Africa. Building on the 2022 policy paper of the ‪@unitednations‬ Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) titled "Role of intellectual property rights in promoting Africa’s development" (https://www.un.org/osaa/role-intellec..., which outlines the landscape of #IntellectualProperty (IP) rights in Africa and an upcoming policy paper that will provide an in-depth analysis of the existing challenges of patent systems in #Africa, the conversation also looks at highlighting selected case studies and best practices on IP policy making and implementation at national and sub-regional levels to promote #SustainableDevelopment, particularly in the area of agriculture.
