In 2018, I came to the U.S. as an international student. Over the next four years, I called a New England suburb home, where I completed my college while gaining a glimpse of the land, history, people, culture, and society of this country. At college, my political studies delved into pressing issues like political polarization and social inequality, which allowed me to know this country from a different perspective. But I wanted to see more. I wanted to experience the diverse landscapes and thousands of towns that make up this country piece by piece. The journey started with a simple idea, but bringing it to life was no easy feat. An idealist dreams big, and a realist makes things happen. To achieve something big, I needed to be both at the same time.

In the month leading up to my commencement, I meticulously planned for my cross-country journey. I accounted for every detail, from budgeting to gathering necessary emergency tools and brushing up on my mechanical skills. Embarking on a solo journey into the unknown and unfamiliar, I was determined to be fully prepared for any obstacles that may arise. I transformed my Subaru into a home-on-the-go, complete with everything I needed for my travels.

My journey came full circle as I returned to where I began, realizing that the destination was never the point. I mapped out my itinerary with a wealth of sights and landmarks to pull over along the way, from historic sites straight out of history textbooks to 20 picturesque national parks. I ventured down city streets, rural highways, and winding country roads, eager to experience the diversity of small towns and villages. While it was quite a detour, I relished the small stops and encounters with friendly locals, rather than just watching the miles pass by from behind Interstate's guardrails.

I traveled 17,460 miles in 78 days across 36 states. With the help of a borrowed GoPro from a friend, I captured the journey in a time-lapse video series, edited in 4K resolution, set to the music that accompanied me along the trip.
