Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) is a chronic and often debilitating condition that causes recurrent, bothersome symptoms. Unfortunately, there can be significant delays in diagnosis for many individuals, contributing to the substantial burden of this disease. The aim of treatment for IBS-C is to improve global symptoms and reduce overall severity, with the choice of treatment guided by the main symptoms experienced by the patient. Central to accomplishing this is a healthy relationship between patients and healthcare providers and patient education.
