The Polo Classic (1995–2002) and the Seat Cordoba I (1993–2002) are technically almost identical cars: both were built on the Volkswagen Group A03 (Polo 6N) platform.

The sedan and estate versions (Polo Classic / Polo Variant) were not produced in Wolfsburg, but at the Seat factory in Martorell, the same place where the Cordoba was manufactured.

According to an internal agreement between Volkswagen and Seat, the Martorell plant was responsible for producing the “small saloon” body-type models within the group. The Side View Mirrors was optimized for a closer, wider field of view, while the passenger’s side, more distant mirror was designed with a taller but narrower shape for the same purpose — all while making the car practically narrower. Just like in the case of the Mercedes W201 and W124.
