Spelunky 2 - Seeded Cosmic Ocean TAS in

Описание к видео Spelunky 2 - Seeded Cosmic Ocean TAS in

After making the Seeded Any% TAS, I remembered about a seed someone found with the idea of using it for a Cosmic Ocean TAS. That was almost two years ago, back when the now-outdated TAS Tool was the only TASing script. Armed with the new better TAS Wizard script, I began TASing that seed. This TAS is the result of about a week's worth of on and off work. All inputs you see in the video were inputted frame-by-frame with a real controller with the ability to replay levels as many times as needed. This is obviously not meant to complete with human runs and is purely for entertainment and seeing the limits of the game.

Special thanks to:
fenex in the Spelunky Community Discord for finding the seed almost two years ago.
Cosine for making the TAS Wizard script, which allowed me to make this TAS.
Members of the Spelunky Community Discord for expressing support with the few updates I did on the TAS in the s2-speedrun channel.

FAQ:

Q: Why is the game zoomed out?
A: I set the camera zoom to 3x in Overlunky to make this video more easily watchable, as the default zoom makes it extremely difficult to see what is happening. I also used a script to reset the camera zoom for the constellation screen, as it is not meant to be zoomed out.

Q: How much preparation was done?
A: All I knew going into the seed was that there was a Telepack in the ceiling of 1-1. I did not scout the rest of the seed, which I really should have done just in case.

Q: Why a buried Telepack instead of one in a crate?
A: Telepacks and Hoverpacks, despite a basecamp dialog implying that they can be found in crates, never actually spawn in crates.

Q: Why did you steal the Spike Shoes?
A: I realized that there may be instances where I need to land on a thorny vine in a cosmic Jungle level, which did end up happening. The shop was also on 2-4, so there were no consequences for sealing it. The arrow in the bow also needed to be fired at some point, so hitting the shopkeeper with it allowed me to get the Spike Shoes by touching it instead of needing to pick it up.

Q: Where did you disappear to in 7-4?
A: Hundun's crushing elevator (internal object name) is eight tiles tall, while a max downward teleport is nine tiles. There is a floor down there, and I also stood on the entrance door platform to quickly get back into the level. I went down there purely for entertainment as the level is an autoscroller.

Q: Why did you use a bomb / rope for an orb in a Cosmic Ocean level?
A: There were some orbs I deemed worth using a resource on to save time.
