Earlier this year I got my first SIRUI - the 50mm f1.8 - from their crowdfunding-campaign. And this piece of glass is such a joy to use - and the results are always stunning!

A few weeks ago SIRUI asked me if I would like to test their new 35mm version of this lens ahead of the official start. And of course I said YES.

The official kick-off for this 35mm 1.8 Anamorphic lens will be August 10th at 10:00 AM (EST) on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. I will add the links as soon as these campaigns are reachable.

My video will also premiere at this point of time. And of you have any questions - I will be online during this time.

My impressions: What a great piece of tech! It's always in my camera bag! In the past I've often used several kinds of anamorphic adapters, and the results were quite okay. But it was always painful to mount the adapter properly onto a lens, finding the right focus was not always easy, and the overall size of this "construction" was not very satisfying. Now I simply use the Sirui like a normal manual lens - totally easy, nothing special, great overall quality. Plug and play.

And the footage looks awesome! Very nice bokeh, great shallow depth of field and very sharp even wide open.

So if you plan to add an anamorphic lens to your collection, I can highly recommend the SIRUI 35 mm f1.8 Anamorphic and also the 50mm version. As a APS-C format lens, it is available as MFT and adapters for E-Mount, EF-M and Nikon Z-mounth which can be easily mounted within a minute.
