Sue Tiernan, Candidate for West Chester Area School Board

Having been a teacher, administrator, student, parent and now a grandparent in this district, I am now able to make a commitment to the time and energy required of a school board member for meetings, phone calls, visits to schools, and professional seminars and workshops. I bring knowledge about district policies, guidelines, needs, challenges and strengths to this critical position. I believe the board sets a climate for the entire district. It must be positive, inclusive, non-partisan, driven by belief in the need for a strong public school system.
My goals as a Board member are to:
• Focus spending on sound business practices
• Provide support necessary for every child to succeed
• Communicate respectfully with parents, community, members of the WCASD students and staff
• Focus district-wide planning on fewer initiatives and do them well
• Work closely with pre-schools and charter schools in our district
