Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters is a 1992 adventure shoot 'em up video game
developed by Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III, published by Accolade.
The Ur-Quan Masters is a remake - modified open-source release of
Star Control 2, based on a freely available version of the original 3DO code. VGChartz noted that
Star Control II is "often considered one of the greatest games ever made".
Kotaku referred to it as "one of the early '90s most revolutionary sci-fi games",
and game historian Rusel DeMaria describes it as one of the best games ever written.
Star Control II is influential amongst developers in the game industry. Tim Cain
credits Star Control II with inspiring his open-ended design in Fallout, calling
it his personal favorite RPG of all time and one.

The player plays the role of the captain of a spaceship, which returns to Earth
after a lost research mission. The captain quickly discovers that Earth has
been conquered by the Ur-Quan, and begins a quest to acquire knowledge,
resources, and allies in order to free humanity from slavery.
