Did Jesus claim to be God? There are many reasons why Jesus did not directly state, "I am GOD." But there are also many reasons why Jesus did not have to use those words in order for His audience to realise - He was God in the flesh! This includes His use of exclusively divine prerogatives, such as forgiving sin (Mk. 2:7; Lk. 5:21), exercising lordship over weather (Lk. 8:24), performing miracles of 'creation' in feeding the 5,000 and then the 7,000 (Mtt. 14:19; 15:24-36), and demonstrating omniscience (John 16:30) including knowledge of the future (Mtt. 26:34). Added to this He claimed pre-existence (Jn. 8:54), that He would be the judge of all mankind (Jn. 5:22), and that He would resurrect all those surrender lives in repentance and faith toward Him (John 5:29; 6:39). Little wonder then that the apostles could write - "To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen." (Romans 9:5 )
