Описание к видео What Amount of Trauma Results In DID/MPD?: Everyone Is Different

My name is Carol and I have Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as Multiple Personality Disorder. I am sharing my life with DID/MPD to end the stigma and spread awareness.

While I have an extensive history of trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking throughout my life, I want to make it very clear that not everyone who has DID/MPD requires the same high level of trauma that I endured to end up with a diagnosis of DID.

To be blunt, most children who endured what I endured died from it. Most didn't make it out alive. I am one of the fortunate ones. I survived. And now, I'm going to thrive.

Trauma is like an iceberg. What you see on the surface is nothing to compared to what is going on underneath. Like trauma, never judge an iceberg only by what you can see on the surface. Trauma hits each of us differently inside.

Not every ship is going to be the Titanic so someone who is already in a lifeboat can have their boat wrecked by a chunk of ice that is much smaller than what is required to take down the Titanic. I hope everyone with DID/MPD is shown compassion because trauma is trauma. It all sucks.
