This video is going to help you learn how to monitor learning in real-time when teaching online using Google Drive documents. You’ll get to know two different ways of doing it. I recommend going for the second option if you have never used Google docs before in your online classes. Remember that it’s crucial to monitor learning rather than constantly getting learners to work from screenshots using pen and paper. We do monitor in our face-to-face classes, so we must do the same thing when we teach online.

This is when need to monitor (just a few examples):
when learners are working individually on a task
when doing writing lessons
the initial test in a Test-Teach-Test lesson
controlled practice activities
when running a test online
and all the other occasions.

I love using Google Drive docs when I teach online. I find them simple to set up and use. However, you do need to know the tips and tricks as it’s very easy to get confused. Remember that you can also use Jamboard, Padlet, Genially, you name it!
