How to Play Weiss Schwarz! (For Hololive & 2022)

Welcome to Weiss Schwarz, players! In this video, we'll go over what the game is all about, getting started, building a deck, and basic gameplay!

*Note
It's worth pointing out that for the purposes of expediency and simplicity, the gameplay examples shown do not show some of the card abilities fully utilized. Cards often do more than one simple thing, so take time and read the abilities your cards have so you know when and how to use them best!

Also, some minor clarifications:

-The Encore Step is a step within the attack phase. You do not perform any actions relegated to the end step before the encore step is completed.

When you refresh your deck, you will always put the top card of your deck into your clock after you shuffle even if it's a climax. This is not considered damage, and thus cannot be cancelled.

When you pay stock for a card cost or ability, the you must pay the stock in the reverse order that it entered your stock so, from the top down. You can also NOT look at your stock during gameplay unless a card states otherwise.

-The goal of Weiss Schwarz is to have fun, so no matter what anyone tells you, play the cards you want, and choose the titles that you love!

*Addendum: Tournament Play

Like many card games, Weiss Schwarz, at the tournament level of gameplay, has a more comprehensive rules set as to how abilities resolve, the order actions are performed, and even rules on who mulligans first! Generally, Weiss Schwarz players are quite welcoming to new tournament-goers and won't fault you for not being a seasoned veteran- however, if you want to check out the Floor Rules at the link below! The document is a bit dense, but I might glance over pages 9, 10, and 20, which cover the floor rules on starting an official game, basic game procedure, and keywords and abilities!

*Addendum: Deck Construction

While the number of actual restrictions is quite small for Weiss Schwarz, some deck construction restrictions for certain sets DO apply! Before participating in a sanctioned tournament, make sure your deck complies with the regulations set forth by this page here:

The titles currently affected by any restrictions are Date A Live, Kaguya Sama, FAte, and Batman Ninja.
At this time, all other sets are unrestricted.
