Aided Language Stimulation

Описание к видео Aided Language Stimulation

Aided Language Stimulation (ALgS) is a strategy that helps students with complex communication needs learn to use their communication systems and become successful communicators. Individuals who use speech typically have thousands of hours of practice and models to learn to communicate. Students who use communication systems also need to see their communication systems being used and have intensive practice and modeling to learn to use their systems.

Aided Language stimulation (ALgS) provides the modeling, interactions, and the opportunities for students to learn to use their systems in many contexts, environments, and communication purposes. Research has shown that ALgS leads to improvements in several areas such as vocabulary, expressive communication, and spontaneous and social communication. Tips for using ALgS are reviewed in this video along with other strategies that can be used with ALgS to improve a student’s communication skills.
