Murray Drums - Walnut Kit Demo 2

This is an another clip of the Walnut kit I recently completed. In this version the bass drum reso head had been ported for a punchier sound at the customer's request, although I personally preferred the sound in the previous demo which was recorded prior to cutting the hole in the reso! This is a segmented kit, made from Walnut, Sycamore Maple and Wenge, with wood hoops all round made from African Blackwood, Maple and Wenge. Sizes are 10x7, 12x8, 14x12, 16x13 and 18x14. Mics used for this recording were AKG D112 on the bass drum, Shure SM57 on the snare and a Superlux S502 stereo mic for overheads, all recorded using my Zoom H6 recorder. The built in mic on the zoom was used to get a little bit of room ambience. Only very minimal EQ, compression and reverb were used so you can hear an honest recording of the kit!
