This time we drove about 1000km (back and forth) in just 3 days to visit the majestic forests of Dandeli. Dandeli offers both deciduous and evergreen rain forest which gives plenty of opportunity for watching wildlife. In this outing, we stayed in Old Magazine House (OMH) at Ganeshgudi and in Anshi Nature Camp at Anshi.

OMH is called as birder's paradise as it offers bird hide to observe plenty of common and rare bird species found in Dandeli. Within the premises of OMH one can also see the majestic dracos commonly called as flying lizards. OMH currently offers stay in wooden cottage, deluxe rooms or dormitory.

Anshi Nature Camp is further south to Ganeshgudi. It is is a very rustic place preferably for wildlife enthusiast only. It does not offer any sophisticated facilities but its a perfect place if you want to explore the forest and be in wild. You can hear calls of frogmouths and owl in the night. Can also see fish owls, trogons and many rare species of the birds. The area is situated in a dense evergreen forest of western ghats which also has variety of mammals including mouse deers, barking deers, bears, leopards, black panthers and tigers. Roaming outside the campsite in night is not allowed and recommended.
