As a music lover, I figured I would add a button on my work bench to control the SqueezeLite running on my raspberry pi (works even if the squeezelite is "off"). Note the phone is just to show what's happening. I'm running a squeezebox server and the raspberry pi is using squeezelite from http://www.squeezeplug.eu .

I had some of these MAME type buttons laying around so figured it was a perfect use.

single tap == play/pause
double tap == next song
triple tap == prev song

Works with Pandora, Spotify, and local playlists as far as I've tried. I'm using wiringPi from http://wiringpi.com/ to debounce the button presses using interrupts, and then I cheated for now and touch a file in C which my perl code sees and is running telnet to the SqueezeBox Server and sends it the commands. I didn't have time yet to write C to connect through telnet directly. :-)

Next I will add long press detection at the end of any press sequence. I'm thinking something like:

long (single) == next playlist/pandora station
single+long (double) == cycle between spotify and pandora and favorites
