Amazon's third-party sellers face a vast and unaccountable "legal" system where Amazon is judge, jury and executioner. Amazon controls half of the online retail market, but 2/3 of the goods sold on Amazon.com come from the third-party seller marketplace. Sales attributed to the marketplace are growing far faster than sales initiating from Amazon itself. Amazon's bigger task is governing all of this activity - and their internal legal system is an absolute disaster. Sellers rely on - and pay fees to access - Amazon's infrastructure which includes shipping networks, advertising, website services, and more to support their businesses. But Amazon's rules for marketplace members are often unpredictable, arbitrary, and harsh at best. This massive shortcoming is a threat to the company's future.
