Like stone cutting calculators, the end result is based on luck. I have cut previous elixirs with this calculator and did not get anything useful. I was insanely lucky here (5/5 achieved with 3 turns and 2 rerolls remaining), but it does show that the calculator helps make lucky moments more powerful.

I wasn't aware of this calculator until the 2nd week of Voldis, and even then I only started using it for legendary elixirs on the 3rd week (I cut some 4/2s and 4/3s on epic elixirs using this calculator on 2nd week).

As noted in the calculator text, it seems to take into account both the usefulness of the advice and the current chaos/order stacks.
