Japan was not always good. In fact, Japan was downright bad for a long, long time. It did not make a World Cup until 1998 and was not a participant in the Asian Cup until the 90’s either. So, what sparked the change? How did a dormant footballing nation become a consistent threat to the best teams in world?

It’s an interesting story! I mean obviously, I decided to make a video about it, it had to pass the Zealand test. The Japanese national team is on a consistent rise of relevance and performance that has it trending to be arguably the best team outside the two power continents of South America and Europe, so the story is worth learning - because maybe it’s already being repeated.
