Black Designers of Canada (BDoC) is the first-ever interactive index of Canadian black designers in all areas of the discipline. It is a platform aiming to give a voice to black designers in the community and eliminate the excuse of exclusion.

We put a call-out June 3rd, 2020 and received over 150+ Submissions of designers, new and established looking to be seen, some for the first time outside of their own media.

The ask is simple - White Canadians, infact all Canadians that have mobilized on social media as of late with symbols of support, we ask if you haven’t found an outlet, choose one and help.

If your initial pledge included the willingness to eradicate systemic injustice and help in the ongoing development of a platform giving voice to black designers marginalized and overlooked in the Canadian design industry, then you’ve come to the right place, because this is where we can use your help!

How is your donation going to count in the next coming weeks?

Accompanied by a team of young black creatives and trusted industry colleagues, in the next coming weeks we’ll be busy working around the clock on completing the sites first round of indexed black designers, all the while developing captivating biography style shorts featuring some of our great Canadian black talent.
