The backhand is a tricky tool. It's hard to develop which makes it hard to trust.
Shortstops tend to get in front of those backhand balls (instead of backhanding the ball) which in turn adds difficulty to that play by having to re -direct energy and add effort to the throw.

In the infield, we want to be smooth while maintaining the number 1 priority of making the play. We cant be complete infielders without a good backhand.

There are so many moving parts to any move but this is the easy 3 step solution to help simplify the process. Try this in practice and trust it in games!
