Uncovering Lindisfarne's Viking History: Exploring The Holy Island Of Northumberland

A visit to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne on a gloriously sunny Easter Bank Holiday weekend, after pervious stops at Warkworth and Bamburgh Castles. The tide was going out as I crossed the causeway to Holy Island but I had to be back on the mainland before the returning tide cut the Island off at 16.00. I first visited the quiet side of the island and three deserted sandy bays, where the Vikings recorded their first ever raid, when they landed at the bays, then attacked and destroyed the Abbey, slaughtering all the monks. I then visit the 16th century Castle, before walking to the church and Abbey ruins where we see them from the ground and the air with footage from the drone.
