Info about Northwood:

Northwood is a neighborhood located in the northern region of Algonquin, Liberty City.

It is mostly made up of small stores and public housing projects. Despite this, the northern part of the neighborhood has many green areas and abandoned piers. The area is somewhat deprived and poverty-ridden, though Dwayne Forge owns a penthouse in the area, which his former protege Trey Stewart lived in. Northwood's demographic is mainly African-American and Latino (mainly Dominican). The Northwood Heights Bridge connects Algonquin with Bohan, starting from the north end of Frankfort Avenue in Northwood. Northwood is bordered to the south by both North Holland and East Holland.

Northwood apparently has a high crime rate, with drug dealing and gang violence commonplace on its many housing projects. The area is controlled by a diverse mix of gangs, including the North Holland Hustlers, Uptown Riders, Angels of Death and Northwood Dominican Drug Dealers.

The nearest LTA stops are Frankfort High and Frankfort Low.

Northwood is based on a mixture of two real life neighborhoods of Manhattan: Inwood and Washington Heights.

About the game:

Grand Theft Auto IV (also known as GTA IV or GTA 4, released 2008) is the eleventh title in the Grand Theft Auto series. The game was developed by Rockstar North and was published and released by Rockstar Games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were released worldwide to widespread hype on April 29, 2008. The PC version was released on December 3, 2008.

Grand Theft Auto IV is heavily influenced by Russian gangster movies, such as Brother, and its sequel, Brother 2, and Niko Bellic's physical appereance is based on the character of Sasha, a Bulgarian sniper who works as a mercenary for the Bosnian-Serb Srpska paramilitary organization, from the movie Behind Enemy Lines.

Set within the fictional Liberty City, based on New York City, the single-player story follows Eastern European war veteran Niko Bellic and his attempts to escape his past while under pressure from loan sharks and mob bosses.
