Описание к видео Building a Flame Maple & Cherry Display Cabinet | WoodWorks with David J. Marks, Ep.2

In this episode of WoodWorks, we dive into the creation of a beautiful wall-mounted display cabinet, blending the warm tones of cherry wood for the case with the striking figure of flame maple for the back panel. This project is a wonderful exploration of contrasting woods and intricate woodworking techniques that come together to form a piece that's as functional as it is visually captivating.

Here's what we cover:
Crafting the top and bottom of the cabinet from thick cherry blocks, including an introduction to creating Cove molding and shaping with a story block for precision.
Techniques for efficient biscuit joinery to assemble the case sides, top, and bottom.
Detailed steps for drilling perfect alignment holes for the glass shelves using a homemade jig.
Resawing and preparing the flame maple panel for the back, employing a special tip to minimize chip-out on highly figured wood.
Constructing the frames for both the panel and door using style and rail construction with mortise and loose tenon joinery, adding visual weight for design balance.
Final assembly insights, including fitting the door with solid brass hinges and adding a handcrafted cherry handle that echoes the cabinet's overall design theme.
Finishing touches with tung oil to enhance the wood's natural beauty and color, followed by the installation method using a French cleat for easy and strong wall mounting.
(I always used "General Finishes" Brand Seal-A-Cell,and Arm-R-Seal which are hand rubbed oil finishes. They used to contain Tung oil back in the day when I used them. They have since modified the formula and I don't know if they still contain any tung oil.)

I hope this episode inspires you with new techniques and ideas for your woodworking projects.
