In celebration of National Women's History Month, on March 2nd, 2017, the U.S. Institute of Peace hosted a roundtable conversation with U.S. Navy Admiral Michelle J. Howard.

Admiral Howard currently serves as the commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, and the U.S. Naval Forces in Europe and Africa. Admiral Howard's impressive career spans decades of achievement, including becoming the first African-American woman to command a ship, the first African-American woman in any of the armed services to reach three stars, the first four-star female admiral in the Navy, and most recently the first female Vice Chief of Naval Operations.
