On 12 October 2023, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders Mary Lawlor presented a report to the UN General Assembly on the situation of women human rights defenders working in conflict, post-conflict and crisis-affected settings.

Called "Pathways to Peace", the report highlights WHRDs' contributions to peace and security, despite the often difficult and even hostile environments in which they work.
