Step-by-Step Instructions
Open the Run Dialog

Click the search icon on your taskbar or right-click the taskbar and select Run.
Type services.msc and press Enter.
Find the Windows Update Service

In the Services window, scroll down or press the "W" key to locate Windows Update.
Disable Windows Update

Right click on Windows Update Properties.
Change Startup type to Disabled and click Apply.
Adjust Recovery Options

Go to the Recovery tab.
Set the First failure option to Take No Action.
Stop the Service

Right-click on Windows Update again and select Stop.
That’s it! 🎉
By disabling the service and updating the recovery options, Windows Update will remain off—even after restarting your computer.
