What are ghosts? Souls of the Dead, or Portals to the Past?

Let me tell you the story of "The Lamplighter's Dream" a fairly recent piece of folklore from the Norfolk Fens in which a labourer in the marshes digs up an artefact of the distant past which gives him strange and unsettling visions.

Also, a similar dream that happened to my partner Tamsin on the farm, which is built over a Roman settlement of archeological significance.

Are the dreams related?

Finally I'd like to talk about a popular theory about ghost sightings, that may have implications for the nature of our dreaming mind, consciousness and the very fabric of Time.
