St. Martinville Horrific Juvenile Facilities

The Marshall Project took an in-depth look into the St. Martinville juvenile facility and found that the conditions are not safe for youth. The incarcerated youth are on lockdown in their cells for 23 hours a day and always shackled when they are leaving their cells.

One expert describes these conditions as child abuse. Beth Schwartzapfel, staff writer at The Marshall Project and Gina Womack, Co-founder and executive director of “Families and Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children” joins Yodit Tewolde on “MakingTheCase” to discuss.
