Notes: This is the introduction of the Gladiators series, which becomes Gladiators: The Challenge, with two compass points for each series, North and South.

This is the first heat of the first compass point series: North

The first contender to win the show will earn a place in the Northern Semi Finals, and the Final, plus a chance of winning and going through to the series final, North vs. South Final to become the Northern champion.

A series of 'Time Out' segments of the Gladiators’ winter training camp at Coco Beach, in Mauritius, will be shown after three numbered events: 1, 3, and 4 within 2-4 minute scenes of Gladiators team bonding and improving their speed, strength, skills, and agility.

The Wall and Hang Tough are usually played in the first heat of every series of Gladiators, but as part of a base of appearances, they are supposed to be played in the first heat in an event line-up as the main events, always. A brand new event, Sumo Ball is not featured in the first heat of Gladiators and is supposed to be, in an event line-up as a new event from the first heat. So instead, Pursuit, Danger-Zone, and Pendulum are played in the first heat of Gladiators in an event line-up.

Duel appears in the first Northern heat as a core event and a combat event in an event line-up for odd numbered heats.

In the Eliminator, a new competition is introduced for the fastest Eliminator time which will be held by a contender throughout the series. The contender, with the fastest Eliminator time and an existing record, will win and receive a £1,000 bonus later on in the final.
