This is the weekend of the ARRL International DX Contest and the WK1DS crew is not as active in this year's contest as we have been in the past. WX4TVJ and AE4FH are busy this weekend with their coursework from their college classes and Mom and Dad are working on getting things ready so we can move soon.

We did take some time to go out to a local park and try out the 100 watt Alpha Loop antenna by Alpha Antenna. http://alphaantenna.com/index.php?mai... Alpha lent us one of the Alpha Loops to try out when we saw them at the Orlando Hamcation last month and we must say that we are impressed! The increase from 20 watts and 100 watts made the difference in putting QSOs in the log.

In this video you will see Grace (KM4TXT) and Hope (KM4IPF) make several DX contacts on 20 meters. You will also see where they increase the power from 20 watts to 100 watts. (Editor's Note - The girls were NOT transmitting when the camera was near the antenna.)

Watch for more videos that we will make with this antenna. We are looking forward to seeing how it does on 40 meters and 80 meters. We will also try it as an NVIS antenna as well.
