In 2023 we had the chance to experience something truly unforgettable — a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon. Our flight took off from Grand Canyon West, a visitor center operated by the Hualapai Tribe. This area is home to the famous Skywalk, a glass bridge extending over the canyon, and serves as one of the best starting points for those who want to explore this natural wonder from the air.

The Grand Canyon itself is one of the most iconic landscapes on Earth, carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. Its immense scale, dramatic cliffs, and layers of colorful rock tell the geological history of our planet in a way no book ever could. Seeing it from above reveals just how vast and breathtaking this natural wonder truly is.

Our flight was organized by Maverick Helicopters, one of the leading tour companies in the region. Known for their luxury service and highly trained pilots, they specialize in giving visitors a safe and unforgettable aerial view of landmarks such as Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and beyond.

For this tour, Maverick used the Airbus H130 helicopter, a state-of-the-art aircraft perfectly suited for sightseeing. Originally developed in the early 2000s as the Eurocopter EC130, the H130 is powered by a single Safran Arriel 2D turboshaft engine, delivering excellent performance, reliability, and efficiency. Its spacious cabin can comfortably seat up to seven passengers, with wide panoramic windows that provide unmatched visibility.

One of the H130’s standout features is its Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, which reduces noise levels both inside and outside the helicopter.
