What is the best way to provide our patients with the most successful treatment outcomes? The answer is the use of new innovative instruments that can enhance and assist the dental hygienist while keeping ergonomics and efficiency in mind.

Hygienist who have practiced in a periodontal clinic, learn that patients’ treatment outcomes can be influenced by two things. First, the skill of the dental hygienist and second the instruments and tools that are used during treatment. The skill of a dental hygienist are developed over many years of clinical practice. The skills of a dental hygienist can be enhanced by having the right instruments to provide the best possible treatment. When adding new instruments It can take time, dedication and patience to become proficient in using a new instrument.

Traditionally SRP kits have many instruments that can be considered “staple” instruments. It is important to push boundaries and go beyond ones comfort zone to adopt new and innovative instruments that can enhance patient care. This course will review and discuss the rational for the use these traditional staple instruments. As well as the various differences in these instruments and how they can be used to their greatest benefits. This course will also introduce new innovative instruments while discussing when, where and how these instrument can be used to broaden knowledge and give confidence to add them to your kit as a new “staple” instrument!
